Biography
Prof. Dr. Md. Asadul Kabir is a distinguished physician, academician, and researcher, currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He holds an FCPS in Medicine and has a robust history of research and mentorship in medical sciences.
Prof. Kabir has been involved in diverse research endeavors, including co-investigating a Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) trial and supervising numerous theses for MD residents and FCPS trainees. His research primarily focuses on internal medicine and public health challenges in Bangladesh.
His notable publications explore topics such as early detection of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in cirrhotic patients, factors associated with diabetic retinopathy, hepatic encephalopathy, and pre-eclampsia. Other areas of interest include autoimmune encephalitis, ICU-acquired weakness, and the prognosis of rabies patients.
Prof. Kabir actively contributes to the scientific community as the Co-Chairman of the Scientific Committee at the Bangladesh Society of Medicine, emphasizing his leadership in advancing clinical research and practice in Bangladesh. His work significantly enhances the understanding and management of critical health issues in the country.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead IRB Meetings: Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Protocol & Document Review: Oversee the review and approval of study protocols, informed consent documents, and investigator qualifications.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with FDA, ICH-GCP, and other relevant regulations.
- Adverse Event Review: Review adverse event reports and take necessary actions to protect participant safety.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts of interest and maintain impartiality in IRB decisions.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate documentation of IRB activities and submit reports to regulatory authorities.
- Training & Updates: Organize training for IRB members and researchers on ethical and regulatory updates.
- Liaison Role: Act as the primary liaison between the IRB, CRO management, sponsors, and regulatory bodies.
