Biography
Dr. Umme Habiba, an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College, has a strong background in medical research and education. She completed her M.Phil in Microbiology at Mymensingh Medical College under Dhaka University and has been involved in clinical and microbiological studies throughout her career.
Dr. Habiba has served as both principal investigator and co-researcher in significant studies, including her thesis on "Comparison between rapid and conventional methods for diagnosing bacterial meningitis." She also contributed to research on etiological agents of acute diarrhea in under-five children and early diagnostic methods for typhoid fever using PCR.
Her publications reflect her expertise in microbiological diagnostics, including a study on immunochromatographic assays versus Widal tests for diagnosing typhoid fever and research on enteropathogens associated with acute diarrhea in a Bangladeshi tertiary hospital.
With a professional journey spanning roles in pathology, clinical microbiology, and public health research, Dr. Habiba has contributed significantly to advancing microbiological diagnostic techniques and addressing infectious diseases in Bangladesh. Her research emphasizes practical applications for early, reliable diagnostics, particularly in underserved and pediatric populations.
Job Responsibilities

- Keep accurate documentation of IRB decisions, meeting minutes, and communications.
- Act as a liaison between sponsors, investigators, and regulatory authorities.
